Uniform Expectations

Dear Parent / Carer

At One Degree academy we believe that a smart school uniform fosters a feeling of belonging, and encourages children to take pride in their school. We have high standards for uniform and believe it is important in communicating the high standards we have for our children.

In the main, children arrive to school in excellent uniform and ready to learn. However, we have noticed recently that for a minority, uniform standards have slipped – in particular regarding ties, shoes, school bags and nail varnish.

As such, I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the expectations for uniform at One Degree. Please see the attached guidance which gives you full details of acceptable uniform and note that in particular:

  • Ties should be worn every day from Year 1 upwards

  • Smart black shoes should be worn (not trainers, except for PE)

  • All children should have a One Degree purple bag; other bags are not acceptable and do not meet uniform standards

  • Coats should be plain black, navy or grey, or you may buy the One Degree purple coat

  • Nail varnish should not be worn and will be removed

If you are unsure, please refer to our website for One Degree uniform standards

I would be grateful if you could ensure that your child’s uniform is correct and is in line with school policy. All branded uniform can be purchased at www.brigade.uk.

We have tried hard to keep the number of branded items to a minimum to allow you to purchase generic items, such as dark grey trousers, skirts or shirts from supermarkets, which can be cheaper. To save on delivery, uniform will be delivered to the school every fortnight. Extra ties can be purchased via ParentPay and will be distributed via the school office. If you are experiencing any difficulties obtaining or purchasing school uniform, please contact the office.

Thank you for your support in this matter.

Kind Regards,

Aidan Sadgrove

Principal
